SAC-AC Assignment
Group your Area Chairs under Senior Area Chairs — assign manually, run affinity-based or random auto-assignment, balance the load per SAC, and review the distribution. This sub-tab appears only when your program has SACs enabled.
Purpose
SAC-AC Assignment groups your Area Chairs (ACs) under Senior Area Chairs (SACs). You can assign ACs one at a time, in bulk, or with auto-assignment, then check the per-SAC distribution at a glance.
This sub-tab only appears when your program has Senior Area Chairs enabled. If your program has no SACs, the SAC-AC tab skips it and opens on Paper-AC Assignment instead.
When you use it
- After SACs and ACs are on your committee, to organize the review hierarchy.
- To spread Area Chairs evenly across your Senior Area Chairs.
- To use expertise matching so ACs sit under a topically aligned SAC.
Walkthrough
- 1
Open the SAC-AC tab and select the SAC-AC Assignment sub-tab.
- 2
Review the summary badges — SAC count, AC count, Assigned, and Unassigned — and the table of Area Chairs with their currently assigned SAC.
- 3
To assign manually, change the Assigned SAC dropdown on an AC's row. Changed rows are highlighted; click Save to commit or Reset to discard pending changes.
- 4
To assign in bulk, tick several ACs and choose a SAC from the Assign to… menu (or Unassign), then save.
- 5
To assign automatically, click Auto-Assign, choose a method (Affinity-Based, recommended, or Random), set Target ACs per SAC, and optionally tick Keep existing assignments. Click Preview to see the projected distribution, then Run to apply it.
- 6
Use All / Assigned / Unassigned filtering and the search box to focus the list, and read the Distribution by SAC panel to confirm a balanced spread.
- 7
To start over, click Clear All to remove every SAC-AC assignment (this cannot be undone).
Tips
Always Preview an auto-assignment first — it reports how many ACs would be assigned, the min/max per SAC, and how many conflicts were avoided, so you can adjust the target before committing. Tick Keep existing assignments when you only want to fill in unassigned ACs without disturbing manual work.
If you see No Senior Area Chairs or No Area Chairs, add those roles to your program's committee before assigning — this sub-tab only organizes people who are already on the committee.
