Communications
The Communications tab groups everything you use to reach your audience — broadcast Announcements, Slack-style Channels, and your public conference Website — into three sub-tabs.
Purpose
The Communications tab is your hub for reaching people. It brings together three distinct tools, each on its own sub-tab:
- Announcements — broadcast messages to a chosen audience. Recipients see them in their Webmail Inbox and the Announcement Portal, and you can optionally publish them to the public website.
- Channels — spin up persistent, Slack-style discussion spaces scoped to the conference, a program, or an event.
- Website — build and edit the conference's public website with the website builder.
The tab opens on Announcements by default. Switch between the three with the sub-tab bar across the top.
When you use it
Open Communications whenever you need to tell people something or set up the channels they communicate through: posting a deadline change, opening a discussion space for your committee, or getting your public conference page live. Use the sub-tab that matches the job:
- One-to-many broadcast that lands in inboxes → Announcements
- An ongoing back-and-forth conversation space → Channels
- Your outward-facing marketing and information page → Website
Walkthrough
- 1
Open the Conference Leadership Console, select your conference, and click the Communications tab.
- 2
Use the sub-tab bar to choose Announcements, Channels, or Website. The tab opens on Announcements.
- 3
On Announcements, compose and broadcast a message to a scoped audience, schedule it for later, pin it, or optionally publish it to the website. See the Announcements help page for the full composer walkthrough.
- 4
On Channels, create a persistent discussion channel for the conference, or browse existing ones. See the Channels help page for details.
- 5
On Website, pick a template and build your public conference site, or re-open the builder to keep editing an existing one. See the Website help page for details.
Tips
Announcements are one-way broadcasts that land in people's inboxes — best for deadlines, decisions, and logistics. Channels are two-way conversation spaces — best for ongoing coordination. The Website is for your public, outward-facing audience.
You don't have to choose between Announcements and Website for public news. While composing an announcement you can tick Publish on conference website, so a single post reaches both your in-app audience and the public page.
